FO = Front Office. As TJ says IBs have more people, which is both good and bad.The good for HFs isTighter coupling between everyone's work and making money. Less chance of being put in a niche and left thereLess bureaucracyYou will get to see more of the big picture, and be exposed to all parts of the businessThe good for banksYou will have more people to learn fromMore diverse, so more chance of finding the right job for youMore recognised name, good for your next jobMore structured trainingLess of having to do stuff because there's no one else to do it. This can be good & bad, but more bad than good

I think DCFC's comments are accurate.I have also found that the lower levels of bureaucracy/politics mean that it is far easier to progress and get recognised than in an IB.

DCFC, Thanks for your detailed summary Really appreciated!I was asked this question in a recent interview (an IB). I'm wondering what they are trying to get from this question. Are they simply want to know your future career plan? Or are they trying to judge whether you'll quit for HF after a short period? Also, thanks Dey and TJ for your comments.

So, once they hire you, they want to keep you as long as possible, given you proved yourself to be valuable.
