I was wondering what the opinion of the masters program at the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) was on Wall Street? Have people heard of this program? I was accepted there, and I have to say that I am really intrigued, but also a little ignorant. The program seems to be constructed similarly to Financial Engineering programs around the country.Any kind of feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I also get admission from IIT (MS in Finance). However I don't have any idea about the program at IIT. Do they really offer high quality classes? Is it easy to find a job after I graduate? I think the program should be better with Michael Ong as the new director there.He authored some popular Risk Management books.

Hey there,I accepted the offer for the IIT program recently after having gone through the same mode of thought as you. I hadn't heard of the program before, nor the school, but after visiting the place i was quite impressed by the school.The finance course is not like a typical finance course in my opinion and as you said, shaped like an FE course.. i think the difference is that the theoretical side is drummed down a bit and theres slightly more applied side, which i thought was good.I sat in on the Futures, options class with Michael Kelly and his lecture style is unique, making use of computer terminals and other resources.. their computer lab is very good and packed with the tools used at a lot of the big banks right now..having also spoken to a couple of students, the job prospect rate within chicago is quite good, with some of the grads going into hedge funds and risk mgt/quants... the impression i got was that because a lot of the material is applied, some banks actually take on temps during the school year, which could be good experience.

This is my first quarter here at IIT in the Finance program (Fall 03). So far it sucks. The professors don't really seem to care about the classes and teach at a very subpar level. They took in too many people into the program this year and even waived some foreign students Toeffel exam by making them pay and take an English course the first quarter. So far, the people behind the IIT Finance program are money hungry people, just taking in random people. I bet you if a bum from Union Station, he could get in if he were willing to pay. If you are bright and did really well on the GMAT like I did, do not make the same mistake by coming here.Unless you are not that good, this program might be good for you. You might learn English. Otherwise, don't waste your time or money, no matter how much $ they offer to gove you
