Hey there,I accepted the offer for the IIT program recently after having gone through the same mode of thought as you. I hadn't heard of the program before, nor the school, but after visiting the place i was quite impressed by the school. The finance course is not like a typical finance course in my opinion and as you said, shaped like an FE course.. i think the difference is that the theoretical side is drummed down a bit and theres slightly more applied side, which i thought was good.I sat in on the Futures, options class with Michael Kelly and his lecture style is unique, making use of computer terminals and other resources.. their computer lab is very good and packed with the tools used at a lot of the big banks right now..having also spoken to a couple of students, the job prospect rate within chicago is quite good, with some of the grads going into hedge funds and risk mgt/quants... the impression i got was that because a lot of the material is applied, some banks actually take on temps during the school year, which could be good experience.
