world cup 2006

My humble predictions:1. Winner - Holland or Argentina2. Best player - Lionel Messi (if he gets all clear from injury - ARG)3. Dark horse/team and players who will surprise - Australia (team) - Lukas Podolski (GER)4. Players to watch - Lionel Messi (ARG) - Cristiano Ronaldo (POR) - Peter Crouch (ENG)

I've got to admit I quite fancy Crouch for a golden boot punt, on the basis that if he gets a hat full in the first two games and Owen doesn't perform, he might pay with Rooney in the later stages.Any way the things started now..... And Im about to walk out of work.....

Quote1. Winner - Holland or ArgentinaI have heard that Holland have practiced penalty-taking. Anyway, I won't be here, going to South Africa tomorrow morning so I'll miss a lot of the mass hysteria (the whole street here is Orange).

QuoteMaybe we can have a Holland V Argentina final and Holland can revenge the 1978 debacle. They are in the same group, so it will be a mini final.Politics apart, Argentina were the better team in 1978. In 1974 final Holland blew it because they got the Germans' back up. And you should not annoy the opposition...

The 1990 world cup is in my memory as one of my best ever, perhaps ecause I was a kid and still prayed for England's success! The 3-2 win against Cameroon - Lineker's penalty, and agony against Germany
