It depends on what your background is and what you want to do. Btw, are you interviewing with the manager who has PhD in Finance from U.Chicago?

hi vbprogrammer, the manager is not a finance phd. he seems to be from an engineering background and is extremely smart.my own background is a PhD in physics. what i want to do is a bit less clear, i'd say as a first step i want to be in a more prestigious group than i am right now, and/or get paid a lot more.i have another offer from an mortgages group where the money is better but the bank is slightly lower rung than my current one.QuoteOriginally posted by: vbprogrammerIt depends on what your background is and what you want to do. If its the same group that I know about (& I don't think Lehman has many different equity groups) then,Lehman is starting a new group in equities and at this moment, I think there are only a few people. In my opinion, your experience with Lehman shall be like joining a start-up group of a very well reputed firm. I also think if you want to stay with a firm for say 10 years, then you might get to do lot of interesting work in equity - like stat. arbitrage, high frequency trading, etc. But, for a year or so , the money may not be that much. So, I guess its up to you now to make the decistion. Do you want to work with a reputed firm and grow or perhaps join them later. For your background, I suppose, its not going to be hard to do either........ If I were you, I would most likely join Lehman. I like brand names at least when you start your career in Finance.
