Advanced Market Maker Course - equities

October 23rd, 2006, 6:50 pm

Hi!I am trying to find a good(preferably the best) course available for starting market makers(traders) in equity derivatives. The course should be held by a well-reputed firm, and last at least for several weeks(really, the longer the better - although it should be divided into a maximum of two chunks). Location anywhere.Anyone got some favorites or recommendations?Best RegardsOyvind

In another post I mention some firms, mostly in Chicago, that might offer what you're looking for---they pay a salary, and eventually let you trade the firm's capital, while training you in options market making; most of their programs are 12-18 months long. I don't know if that's a much longer commitment that you're looking for (since you seem to be looking at "several-week" horizons?), and I wouldn't call it just a "course" in that they're hoping you'll stay on with them after the training period, but I would think those are the best opportunities out there, aside from positions you might find at banks or certain hedge funds.

Hey gentinex,Thats an amazing info.......Can u tell me whether such opportunities are available in UK, especially in London? I'm asking so coz getting a work permit in US is very difficult, as compared to UK...atleast u can rope with HSMP and holidaymakers status in UK which is not possible in US. Thanks in advance

Try, for example, Mako Global, Optiver, Schneider Trading Associates, Curvalue (now part of Van den Moolen I think?), MacFutures (now part of Refco), Goldenberg Hehmeyer, Transmarket.
