Should mention that all trading is screen based.

Just an update for future (no applause!) applicants - beware of unexpected speed related maths tests!

Bosco:I have been to that interview as well......I think you also need to beef up your economics and politics. They will ask you how the central banks set the interest rates and monetary policies, who are the major players in politics in Europe and America and what are their influences on economic policies. Also, be prepared that they may ask you something like what will happen to the bond prices if Iraq suddenly fires a dozen of missiles to Israel...... Things like that. Good luck.

Chris, do you mind telling me how you got the interview. I've checked on their website and the careers section is 'under construnction'. I'm looking for an entry-level position myself. Also, has anyone heard of Mako Global Derivatives? I have submitted a resume online, and I just want to know how their training program is regarded. Thanks.

efiL4zaggiN,http://www.monster.com is a good source of job listings. If Mako's website is anything to judge by,their training program is well-structured,but of course it depends on the trainers._jimmycarter,I had an interview with Goldenberg Hehmeyer, but the questions I got weren't nearly so tough._ChrisB, Did you have questions similar to those jimmycarter got?

I would have to agree with Jimmy, although my questions didn't really extend politically (obviously they may ask you specultive questions on your current knowledge of say how the effective of war with Sadam will affect Crude oil spot prices....etc) they were more focused on analytical questions , product knowledge and your level of IT and maths (basically, they have started only interviewing graduates with only a first class from a top 10 uni in maths, economics, engineering or finance - majority of 2.1's was rejected despite relative internship experience) . My interviews are still in progress. For those who have specific questions, you can PM me.Jimmy, if you've sent me a recent message then apologies for not replying but my mailbox wasn't working - it's ok now!

Thanks.Dodgy, very dodgy. They believe their own hype and think they are invincible/riskless now. Disaster waiting to happen.

Besides I know you are privy to the exact same information as me, so am quite surprised by your question.

Thanks. Not really much of a training programme although I do not know how if compares to other firms, maybe this is the way with all firms. Basically you act as a trading clerk for about a year. Treated very poorly, lots of abuse. If you make the grade you can then progress up to junior trading. Not much of a learning curve and my impression is that the % making it on to trading is quite low. Seems mainly to be how you get on with the trader rather than about actual ability.
