getting MFE sponsored by firm ?

November 12th, 2002, 2:42 am

guys, have any of you gotten your Masters (Finance/Financial Engineering, etc) sponsored by your firm ? I have heard of firms sponsoring MBA degrees........considering I will have already racked up substantial debt during my MBA, I'm thinking of getting any future possible Math Finance degree sponsored (worse scenario: I'll do it part-time; at least I won't be shelling out $25 grand). Any thoughts ?

A wild guess is that in this environment it will be tough to get sponsored. If the economy improves you'll need to be in a position to negotiate such a thing (i.e. make a good argument that it will benefit your employer). If you live in a city where you could do it at night or on the weekend part-time, and you get tuition reimbursement as a benefit, the hurdle may be lower somewhat. Another option might be to fund it from a pretax benefit account, if one is available from your employer (depending on your tax regime).Good Luck.
