The impact of China's Foreign exchange reserves

July 29th, 2007, 7:14 pm

Does anyone have do research or this issue? On the one hand, the trade surplus is not so big for China overall, I suspect that a lot of foreign money comes to China, but they have to be converted to RMB, so the Foreign exchange reserve soared there. However, it may be hard for folks to get the money outside of the country, right?Monetary Authorities with the largest foreign reserves in 2007. Rank Country/Monetary Authority billion USD (end of month) 1 People's Republic of China $1333 (June) [1] 2 Japan $914 (June) — Eurozone $440 (May) 3 Russia $413 (July 20) [2] 4 Taiwan $266 (June) 5 South Korea $251 (June) 6 India $222 (July 20) [3] 7 Brazil $155 (July 26) [4] 8 Singapore $144 (June) 9 Hong Kong $136 (June) 10 Germany $115 (June)

I think there must be some link between there trade surplus and investment. they are using major share of their trade surplus every year on infrastructural development which was never implemented in past in any country resultin fall in their reserves. This was hot discussion topic among the developing ASIAN contries whether they should try to do the same or not?
