Reuters v. Bloomberg

Reuters or Bloomberg. Which is best database for quant?

It depends on what types of analysis you are doing. BBG has very quick and easy interface which helps if you are speaking to non-quant friends. If you have very good programming experience and like to custom made app, then Reuters will have advantage over BBG.

In terms of the availability raw data, I've always preferred Bloomberg. I've never had a problem finding what I need rapidly on Bloomberg, while I have had that problem with Reuters. Perhaps that's just because I find the Bloomberg interface far more useful and intuitive. However, Avatar raises a good point. If you're a skilled programmer, then Reuters may indeed be the way to go due to their customization features.

Reuters v. Bloomberg

I asked this question on the software forum, but hopefully one of you might know. I use the Bloomberg data feed to get information on convertible bonds. This is not an industrial grade application, so I value the quality of the data over quantity. Would the Reuters feed be able to offer detailed pricing data (e.g. calls/puts) for a complex instrument like a convertible bond?
