Brigo and Mercurio's fascinating careers!

October 15th, 2007, 5:57 pm

Check out the web pages of the two famous quants who wrote a book on Interest Rate Models:http://www.damianobrigo.ithttp://www.fa ... /According to their CVs, Brigo became the Head of Credit Models in Banca IMI, Milano in about 1 YEAR since starting working as a quant, Mercurio became the Head of the Financial Models group withing 2 YEARS after he started working!Isn't that amazing?!! Is there a catch? I mean both of them are obviouslt very very talanted, but there is also internal politics, etc. So, how? how?

Brigo's abridged experience:Banca IMI, Milano. From October 1998 to June 2007. Head of Credit Models.Banca Intesa, Milano. February 1997-October 1998. brigo stayed at Banco IMI for almost 10 years. He was head of credit models when he left, not when he joined. There's no catch. Get a grip kid.

Brigo: First he is not soo young (41); second most probably he was also lucky in this time in Milano.. in some "remote from Wallstreet and London" places when the chief of a department leaves a fresh hired can be pushed to head (one likes him and less cost than finding someone other)...be the right person at the righ moment..random draw of luck helps --ramp up- careers. like in the Game of Goose The Game of Goose The Game of Goose Henry Carrington BoltonThe Journal of American Folklore, Vol. 8, No. 29 (Apr. - Jun., 1895), pp. 145-150Conclusion: don't stick to WS or London, go to Milano, or to , or to "fill in your favorite chertnakulich town".. have agood draw of luck and you become a big banana faster... Rules

Get a grip kid.Thank you, boy I guess, I was confused by the phrasing. On Mercurio's page it says:In October of 1998 he moved to Banca IMI where he was made the Head of the Financial Models groupwhich is a little misleading. He could have said "where later on he was made...".Also, aren't Banco IMI and Banco Intesa the same thing?
