Statistical arbitrage hedge funds

Hello,I am currently an investment bank quant doing equity derivatives and I am looking to move to a trading position on a stat arb desk.1. What are the good HFs for stat arb ?2. What are their requirements for such a position ?

IMO, the two jobs require quite different skill sets -- the first job involves stochastic calculus, pde etc stuff while for the other statistics is most important. It may be much easier for a derivatives quant to switch to derivatives trading.

About switching to derivatives trading: I agree it should be easier to switch to from my current position. However, I am interested in stat arb more. After a Ph.D. in Comp Sci I am hoping to do more algorithms and automated trading than what a derivatives trader does.Anyway, can anyone tell me something about the HF in London or NY ?

Almost all HFs use stat arb strategies! The most obvious ones are BGI, Citadel, etc.

Thanks Spice,Do you know a few which are known to be good in this area ? It's not easy to find this info on the Net. Well, I might have to phone a recruiter and ask him ... :-)
