Asia?

May 8th, 2008, 2:40 pm

One recruiter keeps asking if I want to consider Asia (Hong Kong and Tokyo), while I am in the US and looking for a job in the US as well. I also don't know any Asian languages. My question is -- are there really entry level jobs for people without the local background? How is it possible to survive and work there without speaking the language?Thank you!

Quick answers, yes, there are jobs but not that many.As for language. Tokyo more difficult but certainly possible. HK a smattering of Cantonese is handy but by no means essential.Bear in mind both places are stunningly expensive, Tokyo for everything, HK more housing costs. At least HK has a low tax rate though.
