Pants: Pleats vs. flat-fronts?

June 9th, 2008, 11:26 am

Everybody seems to be saying that flat-fronts look better. For some reasons I have always thought, and still think, that pleats are much cooler.Your opinions? Flat vs. pleats and why?

Flat-fronts better if you are slim, pleats if not!

Flat-Fronts. Clean looking lines. Pleated slacks look tacky most of the time.

If you look at any quality suit you'll see that the pants have pleats. Jeans and chinos, however, look very odd when they have pleats, so I would definitely go for flat fronts when wearing these.

It depends a lot on your figure and where you are. If you are in Cheyenne, Wyoming, try to ditch the pleats if they only suit you a little better. As to where pleats might be in fashion right now, I don't know. But if they make your figure look better, and you are in a place where people are used to them, then wear them.So far as ridiculous oversized belt buckles, I have noticed in Cheyenne that the skinnier-hipped the cowboy, the bigger the belt buckle.
