Request: Automatic Topic Creation from Blogs

Wilmott.com has a nice collection of blogs, but no ready way to create conversation around blog postings. Adding a comment system to the blog section seems like a lot of bother and would fragment the discussions.Would it be possible to create a small script that automagically creates a "new topic" thread each time a Wilmott blogger publishes a new blog post? These auto-threads could be located in the "General Forum" or "Off Topic Forum" or in a new "Blog Forum" category.Thank you.

When I read Traden's post a few days ago, I thought that it was a good idea, but didn't get around to responding as such.After reading Paul's Blog today, I must say, I heartily support this motion. And I think there should be a special Category: Blog Forum, affectionately known as "The Bog".

We thought about this before. We didn't want comments in the blogs themselves for that reason, fragmentation. And if we have automatic thread creation what happens if Das's brilliant extended pieces get no comments while the 'porn handshake' etc. become really hot?! How would Das feel? (Ok, I know it'll be the other way around!!!) Let me manually post a few, see what happens!P

I will make the following load-balancing commitment:If I post in response to a pornographic blog, I will also post something relevant to at least one blog on QF.Sort of like community service and an extension of my existing practices.

I am quite certain that the only pornographic blogs will be mine, and you don't need to feel sorry for me...that job is already oversubscribed!P

I wouldn't say so, actually, E Derman can be quite frisky sometimes, particularly when he senses some Keynesians running around laughing...

A suggestion - how about on the blog post there is a button such as 'comment on this blog'. It will take you to the thread, and if the thread doesn't exist it creates it? That way we don't have lots of empty topics.
