Risk Management certifications

May 19th, 2009, 8:40 pm

Hi all,I was wondering if practitioners could give me their opinion on Financial Risk Managers certification Vs Professional Risk Management certification.Which one is the most reputable designation? Is there any difference in the material covered?Could anybody who took one of the certifications share the amount of time they spent studying for it?I did a bachelor in finance and mathematics, and two internships (one in quant research for a hedge fund, and another in the middle office of the asset management division of a bank).I'm starting an MSc Financial Mathematics next year and I'll enter the job market in July 2010. I'm planning on working in financial risk management (testing prcing models, performing stress tests...). Any advice on stuff that are good to have on your resume for this type of jobs? Thanks a lot for your comments.

this was discussed many times here and everywhere. i can say that approx prep times in PRM candidate guide are realistic. if you have quant and finance background then it's 2-3 weeks of 1-2 hours per day prep time for a test. otherwise, i saw fellas who spent months for each test. my professor gave me an excellent tip: to start with exam 2, it's the easiest one.
