Columbia MA or MS?

April 2nd, 2003, 1:56 pm

you could try sending Peter Fisher at Columbia an e-mail. I haven't received anything in hard copy yet but he confirmed my admission via e-mail yesterday. I didn't receive the invitation for the open house either, so I wouldn't worry about it. It's not over until it's over :--)

I did received the Admitted Student Open House, too. And another email about the activities in SEAS.But I have not got the official admission letter. I sent email to the admission office, no response. I called them, only voice message. I think it should be in the process of the paper work. But why does it take so long? Upset because of no official letter.

got emails from NYU and Columbia, definitely positive response although they said the official mails will be in the letter box soon. I think the official letters are just formality and shouldn't worry anyone too much.CMU also gave me a telephone interview and admission was granted on the spot; although, of course, official letter will come later.it's so hard to choose.... would definitely want to go to CMU but the cost is simply way too high.... *sigh*

While we're on the subject, can anyone comment on the quality of instruction at NYU's Courant Institute? Will be taking classes in both the FinMath and PureMath areas, so I'd like to hear about what current and past studentsthought of profs, classes, or anything that I should be aware of as an incoming grad student. Thanks,
