Hiring Freeze

September 6th, 2011, 10:23 pm

A friend of mine interviewed at BB financial firm and thought it went really well. The HR later called and said that the group had decided to put the position on hold and would be in touch as and when the position reopens. He wrote to the hiring manager for feedback but the HM said that there was a firmwide hiring freeze and so he would not be able to comment about the other interviewers as he did not read their feedback given that the position was on hold. What is the common practice when this position reopens ?Do they just go back to the already interviewed candidates and select the best of that lot. Or readvertise the position and restart the whole process all over again.

Hiring Freeze

probably the latter. chances are the hiring manager would have been fired by then or moved on to something else or has been assigned someone internally etc etc
knowledge comes, wisdom lingers

If they liked you, they'll probably try to get in touch with you, but I wouldn't wait.

Thanks all. I have some restrictions with the location plus am very specific with waht i want. I have good job at the moment so will wait and see what happens. It seems these freezes get over begining of year when bonuses are paid out. Keeping my fingers crossed and hopiong that they like me.
