Hi! Has anyone used Bloomberg's Economic Calendar (ECO <GO>) in an automated way, i.e. getting releases, parsing them, extracting numbers and trading based on the released numbers? I have talked to Bloomberg about getting live releases in a cell in Excel or through API but they told me all they have are alerts that appear in Bloomberg Launchpad popup windows or are sent to my MSG box (can then be forwarded to another email). Has anyone used any other fast economic release data source that can be used to feed live data to an automated trading system? Thanks!

Most tickers have a ticker assigned to it, why not just that to retrieve the value in excel. You do realize that any HFT trading outfit will be trading after a news event on timescales in your described setup right?
