Spreading those Big swinging traders of ours. Lodz of money as a matter of fact, but on more structured products (exotic structured including real options...). Why, you don't ?And what's your background, volat ?FDAXHunter: you're not french, you're german, ich wusste dass schon. Are French traders so badly reputed ?

Hi Kente,(1) if you already really know how to make money -with exotic stuff indeed- you don't need to go back to school, my boy! (2) don't say around -at least in real interviews- that with less than 1 yr experience you traded exotic stuff! either you were in an insignificant place or you were just bringing in coffees.....(3) in order to trade exotics in big I-Banks/derivatives deptments, the profile is highly quant....so I think unlessyou pursue a DEA (El-Karoui) or N-Y- Msc in quant finance. or a purely quant doct.... you will not break into. Buthaving those studies will not increase your prob. by so much... I know very bright people who, for unknown reason, didn't get recruited in trading team.(4) be realistic: it's going to be very dificult for you to explain why making money so much money(5) by the way, if you really like to trade, don't broke: it has nothing, but nothing to do. It's so humiliating, -they existjust to invite you or relax our nerves- but in good years could be very rewarding ($). In fact, apart from drugs and porno industryI can't think of an industry in which with so little brain, studies, knowledge you can make so much. the permanent misprice?>By the way, I am a trader: not very exotics, but it fits me well. And, sometimes I win and other I loose. Like everyone else whodon't have client flows or trade high margin exotics... send me your cv.

"In fact, apart from drugs and porno industry, I can't think of an industry in which with so little brain, studies, knowledge you can make so much."I'm sure that in order to really make it (and stay alive/out of jail) in the drugs industry you definetely need brains. And I doubt that porn pays that well...So I would rephrase it as: "In fact, apart from football, I can't think of an industry in which with so little brain, studies, knowledge you can make so much."

Hello volat,My brother is dreaming of becoming a footballer, and the lad is hightly quant as well for a 14 year old! Anyway.volat: I did not trade exotics, but priced and structured, which is different, no ?And : (1) I don't have any doubt about my capacity, recruiters do. A year is not enough for them apparently... Cf (3) then. (5) Brokers are not despisable, I've got friends who have become brokers. I'll get them to join this. The only thing about trading is that you need to get in first and prove yourself with big money, no ? For the rest, I know that I have mind for a trading , meaning I like to take clear bets on events, and especially on vols and directions. Spreading is just like scalping today, you earn by bits and pieces, not by clear and decisive understanding and vision on your overall positions.School: I have been sending my applications in France and the UK anyway. 6 months out of the market is something I wish to no one like me. And what do you thing of the DESS203 in Paris Dauphine ?Merci !
