Advice needed for greenhand

December 16th, 2014, 5:19 pm

Hi there,I am about to chose an offer for my next year Internship in LDN. I've got A HFT, several BBs.All of them are quant offcycle internship and in which team are not precised yet now. I see that HFT should obviously be the best among all. But I'm kind of worried that for a newbie like me who knows nothing about HFT, would it be too harsh a place to start my career? Otherwise for banks, internships is always followed by the job and it seems like more stable..Can anyone make any suggestion? Thanks in advance.

Go to buy side as long as it in in trading and not in ops or IT or some other back office support.Sell side is heavily regulated, and in any case after a few years you'll want to go to buy side for the money and the smarter people.

It is of course not the whole truth, but I would not aggressively dispute it.

As Hansi says, an interview is basically a long job interview.Obviously they like you, else they wouldn't be taking you on, but even if they like you after they know you better they have to get headcount approval.
