Are you using some kind of motion planning algorithm?

they are controlled by a neural network that has been evolved to adapt

Cool and LOL! Those wee sleekit beasties look scared!Do the agents interact in any way? Could an agent evolve/learn to escape destruction by herding another agent into a plank?

QuoteDo the agents interact in any way? Could an agent evolve/learn to escape destruction by herding another agent into a plank? Perhaps this may be similar to certain evil traders who engineer a blowup of a colleague's book so they get a bigger share of the bonus pool?I've thought about changing the fitness function from being the absolute total time survived, to the relative survival time vs the average of everyone else.Maybe using a more advanced network topology may lead to such evil behaviour.

Maybe the planks should evolve to chase the agents.
