Equity derivative traders are not dealing with derivative products solely. Therefore, in effort to refine your question, there are the equity arbitrage desk and the exotic product desk with some combination. Thus, the daily routine at work of the two traders might be completely different from the other. So, which one?

We can further add: dispersion trading strategies, special situations, sector trading (financials, healthcare), ETFs(like QQQ, SPY), risk arb(corporate actions), the indices (SPX, NDX, RTY), emerging markets, basket trading, equity linked notes, and converts. These are pretty much all the flavors I've worked with as a product controller.
