It seems that they are working around the clock to get Big Ben ready on time.  Maybe they should have put in more hours and madness of crowds won't help.

It is definitely in the same boneheaded spirit. I’m sure people like Paul have something to say about it, although it’s not totally clear to me whether their view would be that Brexit was brilliant and Trump is an idiot; or that Brexit was brilliant and Trump is even more brilliant; or, well we know they won’t go there….

I'm not an economist, and I don't have access to parallel universes, so that rather hampers in/out comparisons. But what I can say with confidence is that I find people's obsession with money very sad! I realise that makes me unusual! There is more to life, but I suspect that many people don't know it.

There's certainly more to life I agree. However, due to listening to people that I trusted and being given bad advice I'm still renting at 53 and I'd really like to change that. More to the point this place is far better than Linkedin for knowledge and conversation :)

Trump's tariffs against Canada and Mexico feels like the US having a case of Brexit. "Let's destroy trade with our closest neighbors for prosperity".
Excluding arms shipments to the Hottentots, what.

I’m guessing that the current regime, co-lead by a very unsavory African immigrant, will bring the term “Hottentot” back into common usage.
