The simple answer is that Elon was not widely identified as a nazi in 2023.

There's also the fact that Tesla stopped innovating, and other EV companies do.

If Europeans ditch Tesla and switch to BYD because Elon is a threat to democracy... it's going to be a bit stupid.
Too late now, methinks.

My point is that BYD is a Chinese company, and China isn't known for its love of democracy
Hasn't been an impediment up until now. Volvo is owned by BYD. We all buy Chinese solar panels and iphones.
Dutch will buy BYD if it is cheaper and better imo.

China finds 'limitless' energy source that could 'power the country'

https://www.msn.com/en-xl/news/other/ch ... elemetry=1

Researchers further allege that five years' worth of mining waste from an iron ore site in Inner Mongolia contains enough thorium to meet American energy demands for over 1,000 years.

That would be amazing!
Indeed; a limitless supply for USA.

I've been trying for some time to find some solid evidence that thorium as an energy source is really viable. Haven't found anything convincing.

The base argument seems to be that at the beginning of the atomic age, research could have gone either into thorium or uranium/plutonium, and because the latter route had more weapons potential -- which was important at the time -- it was pursued and thorium put on the back burner.

But it's been eighty years since then. Where are the thorium reactors? Even fusion seems to be making more respectable progress, at least in the last several years.

Very true. I could be mistaken but I think the historical reason there are no thorium reactors is that they are not or at least were not useful for producing bomb materials. The nuclear power industry, always dodgy from a financial perspective from day one, might never have existed were it not for the bomb industry and tiny legislated liability limits bestowed on it operators relative to the potential damage they could wreak in the event of serious malfunction or terrorism.

Passing by the thorium discussion, which has a bit of a 60’s flavor to it, if I were to pick a head of state that is more benign to his subjects, I’d definitely choose Xi over Elon. Maybe not more democratic, but now we’re slicing the salami really thin, to the point of silliness.

Oh, and you may object, “Elon is not a head of state!” I challenge you to tell him that.

I'm pretty sure Trump will resolved the HPAI outbreak in the US in the next 24 hours after he takes office in Jan25

There seems to be quite a bit of cross-sectional dispersion to these prices. My NYC source will still deliver them for $6-something a dozen, although they cap the quantity to three dozen per order. As for the twitting from Trump, it’s probably equal measure idiocy and preaching to the garbage in the choir.
