Happy "Ireland hasn't yet recovered demographically from the 1840s Potato Famine" Day!

Don't forget, the potato crop also failed in the Highlands of Scotlands, allowing absentee landowners to replace people by sheep.

I’m afraid the world needs to get used to an influx of American refugees. Not necessarily poor ones, mind you, but that might just possibly make it worse.

No, I went to see the Book of Kells. Visited Temple Bar to get some food. The food was OK, but.. So many Americans! Gross.

At least they weren't Russians.
Was TCD busy? In my day there were 2000 students and less tourists. Now 20K students + et al ..

The Temple Bar used to be a bar. Last I was there was 1989.

I thought it was a district? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temple_Bar,_Dublin

The Book of Kells is an amazing thing. I was almost choking with emotion looking at it. To think that something so beautiful and fragile survived so many centuries so that we could enjoy it.
What you saw was not the original.

yes, it's awfully expensive in Dublin. some call it a rip-off.

Things were much worse during Celtic Tiger Boom 2001-2007.
