I'll give you a hint too - I took this picture on Thursday.

Bonus question: What kind of a party is this? Some kind of Holy Macro Festival? LOL

Bermuda?
Nope. It is Newport, Rhode Island, although most of those impressive yachts are from the Cayman Islands.

People who know their country flags will say, "No they're not - the Caymans flag has a blue background with the smaller Union Jack inside."
But actually the Caymans have their own nautical flag and it is red with the Union Jack inside, just like these.
(I was also close enough on the water side to see the vessel names and country insignia, so I am sure!)

This little fleet has been there since before June 20 and there are a lot of them. Some are moored out in the harbor too.

Is it some kind of global mobile off/onshore multi-asset HFT trading platform? Hehe.

It's far away from Bridgeport, Conn. Too many sharks and ticks.

"Jaws 3"? Nasty little buggers.

On Bridgeport and ticks, etc. Newport is pretty special, with a large inner harbor and very active Shipyard, with a focus on racing and large yachts (as opposed to Mystic Seaport, which also has maritime amenities, but not quite the same clientele.

I don't know every port of call along the Connecticut coast line, but Greenwich Harbor is much smaller, less sheltered, and does not have the scale of operations for repairs and so forth.

Here is another large yacht that's been kicking around for a couple of weeks, just to give a sense of the ambience.

Steven Spielberg Just Sold His Prized 282-Foot Superyacht ‘Seven Seas’ - The Robb Report November 4 2021

The buyer at that time was not named, but Seven Seas, now known as Man of Steel, is moored within the harbor.

To add to the drama, the buyer was eventually revealed to be Barry Zekelman, Canadian steel billionaire.

See article in Luxury Launches May 30, 2023

Should be renamed Man of Steel Tariffs maybe?

It's all just Shipyard scuttlebutt really, but if it happens to be interesting eyewitness information for some of you, that's just splendid.

It’s about a two hour drive - call it 120 miles (~190 km).
