Bates method for Vision

October 20th, 2003, 9:37 am

I wear glasses, but my vision is getting worse every time I visit the oculist. I have read about this Bates method, which consists in simple exercises for the eyes. Anybody has tried the Bates method to improve his/her vision?

I have no idea about the bates method, but I used to be basically blind on one eye (still don't have 3D vision), but I was able to improve it by covering up my left I and just walking around, doing everyday stuff, forcing the eye to do its job. It got much better after a while. So my experience is that you can definitely train your eye. Makes sense, as it is usually focal problems, which are controlled by muscles. So exercising them should help.Regards.

Anybody has tried the Bates method to improve his/her vision?I have a friend, who had very bad vision, who tried it (or something very similar to it). It seems to work up to a certain point. My friend will always wear glasses, but her eyesight stabilized, or improved slightly. I haven't seen her since a few years, so I don't know how permanent the effect is.

Now it must be tougher. Focusing is as FDAX said a matter of muscles but if the cornea is hit, scratched, sick, etc..... no training on the muscle will improve it. You learn it the hard way when you wannabe a fighter pilot since you were nearly born.

Here is some info from quack watch I don't really buy whats on the quack watch site in some cases. But they always sound technical and scientific in their arguments. A friend of mine thinks they are the absolute truth on these things. They also bashed up homeopathy somewhere on their site :-(
