Stupid question: stock prices

Hi, I was downloading WMT stock price as well as S&P500. Unfortunately, there were some dates missing from the S&P500.Do you guys know why?Thanks,Fishsauce

It's probably just what PeteJ said. In addition to that, if you downloaded from Yahoo, then depending on how you did it, there can be line items for dividends or stock splits which can skew which date goes on which row if you are trying to merge multiple data series onto the same spreadsheet, and line them up by date.

Actually, on certain dates S&p500 data was available BUT NOT WMT.

www.yahoo.comI was collecting WMT and SP500 from 11/1/1988 - PresentAbout three dates were missing for WMT but not SP500and about four datew were missing for SP500 but not WMT.

yahoo is a search engineTry using a real data provider like BB, ILX, bridge, hyperfeed, etc.
