I'll say it's safe to assume you've been in both the Trinner library (that's humor, not an insult) and the cathedral in which the Medieval University was housed / connected with? That cathedral is pretty amazing to walk past, I must admit that. A bit too close to Temple Bar for my liking but beggars can't be choosers.

Nah, haven't had the inclination to actually set foot in any of the churches here in Dubs yet.  Only got off the boat recently.

We haven't met yet.  That'll change once they stop these shenanigans with the bat aids.

My neighbor is, in fact, a barman at Mulligan's.  Funny story: a guy I know in Frankfurt claimed that Kehoe's is the place in Dubs where you can get the best pint of Guinness.  Some Dubs were near us and he asked them to confirm his statement.  All of them said that Mulligan's is the place for the best pint of the black tar. My neighbor was very happy to hear that.  

Small world, indeed. Muliigans, Is his name Noel? Kehoes and Long Hall (North Great Georges Street) a bar!) are great. 
Check out Gravediggers bar near the cemetery in Glasnevin. No joke.

And singing is not allowed in  Mulligans.

He goes by Christy. Doesn't drink at all. I only know him by that name, nothing else.

I'll have to see what happens whenever they decide to reopen bars etc.  It's been a pain to date. 

Toner's and McGrattan's are pretty good. Relaxed once you get to know the bar staff.  I visited Doheny and Nesbits once. Asked for a beer and was told buying food was a must, despite the fact the waiter allowed another table to wave him off with food. Brought that up and was told "it's regulations" to which my reply was "well then they also have to buy food!, either you're consistent or lose business. I have EUR150 in my wallet, either you want to make some money or we can leave it at that." Showed him the 150 euronen and he went to speak with his boss. The guy came back and they let me drink without food.  

I had to google Phil Lynott 'cause the name didn't ring a bell until I saw Thin Lizzy.

Where'd you live while in Dubs?  That's one good thing about bat aids, I was able to get a place right on the river for a fraction of what it would otherwise cost. 

I lived on TCD campus for a few years, and in Westland Row (I paid 3 pounds a week rent.). and other places. Haven't lived in Dublin since 1978. Since then been in Amsterdam. 

BTW there is a Texan buried in the grandfather clock in Mulligans. It was his dying wish. And Pierrepoint - the last UK hangman - used to drink in Nearys when 'visiting' Dublin. I suppose the latter-day versions drink in D&N.

Oooof. Yeah, things have changed drastically since 1978. They recently caused a fervor with communities for wanting to build new dorms in certain areas. The same old stalactites and stalagmites came out to complain and knock every single thing. Forgetting their own university experience.

Do you remember where on Westland Row? It's literally around the corner from me. My chemist and barber are located there.

3 Pound is ridiculously cheap, but being 1978, it makes sense. Different times, different purchasing powers and costs of life. That being said, it was probably super expensive for you at that point of time too.

I think it was 44 Westland Row, above Sweeeney's grocery.It's Centra now. 4 of us lived on the 3rd floor. i see they have new curtains. 1973.
BTW Oscar Wilde was born in Westland Row. And check out Sweny's (Lincoln Place) Jame Joyce museum just at bottom of WR opposite Kennedys. It used to be a pharmacy where you could buy ointments for all kinds of ailments.
