People are doing things only because of anxiety. How many people are able to just do nothing? It's just too scary for them.
I have been thinking about the problem of screaming children and angry spouses. I have no experience with this, but had an idea. See if it is helpful.
Designate one room of the house to be the Calm room. Weave some mystery around it.
Put some nice things there on a table by themselves - chocolate, a toy or two, something that your spouse will recognize and value (but not breakable or contentious).
People are allowed, even encouraged to go to the Calm Room from time to time.
But you have to be calm *before* entering there - you have a grip already.
No screaming, fighting, or crying.
See what you think. If it works, how long does the calming effect last?
Now you have a new science project to work on too!
Today I am sewing patches on six pairs of jeans - they have been stacked in a pile for a long time. They are in very good shape, but all wear out in the same place - funny. I guess that is because of my lovely gamma. He he. : )
And finally a song for you - don't forget, you may be able to modify child, spouse, and/or significant other behavior through skillful selection of music too.
Dancing in the Dark - Diana Krall
Joao Gilberto & Stan Getz -Mostly Bossa Nova Full Album (1963)
I'm going for a retro bossa nova groove today. Smokey loves it.
