Anyone got a call from Gatech QCF program

April 21st, 2005, 3:02 am

Hey guys,I was given admission to GaTech's QCF a few weeks ago. My home department was Mathematics. No word on aid though. I had a chance to visit the program and speak with the program director (Kertz) and the coordinator. My impression of the program is that it is well structured and covers most of the important topics of modern financial engineering. Dr. Kertz is actively involved in positioning graduates to jobs, which is another plus. One thing I don't particularly care for about the program is its location: Atlanta is not the best place to live, nor is it a good place to make Wall Street connections and seek out opportunities. Overall though, I was impressed with the program and I think it is one of the better ones in the nation. What other admits have you guys recieved? Are you guys leaning towards GaTech?

Anyone got a call from Gatech QCF program

April 21st, 2005, 5:50 am

Hello all,As of now i am inclined to take up the Gatech program. I have a few decisions pending though,University of Florida (Phd in Quant Fin) Imperial College (MS in Math and Fin)Kings College (Phd in Applied Probability and Fin)Gatech seems to give me an option of taking up a job or building a foundation for a Phd from a good univ. The only thing i am worried about is that the GRA that i have is valid only for the first year, and then you are supposed to get a TA in the dept to fund your last semester courses, and looks like gettting any sort of GRA/TA is not a piece of cake in Gatech.Cheers!
