Well, a lot of people from the west coast have all their expenses paid (flight, hotel, taxi, food for a total greater than 1,000$).

GS payed for the aiplane tickets through their travel agency (no actual money transaction involving myself). Nevertheless, they claimed that I could arrive to London in the morning, have my interviews and return back immediately after the completion of the interviews, therefore they could not justify any other expenses (e.g accommodation). That's my story with GS. Everyone has it's unique story regarding reimbursing expenses and investment banks. Btw it was September 2005.

If you're coming from colorado to NYC, you have to take the red eye to "arrive in the morning for interview." So you agreed to interview after a night without sleep?? That must have been rough...

I'd have stumped up for a hotel. Very few people are at their best after that. It is called "red eye" for a reason. It's a crap way of making decisions. Very tough to work out what people are really like, and adding that much noise is stupid. The lost-time cost for the dozen or so GSers make the 60 quid they'd pay for a basic room quite trivial. Having been doing pimping for a while, I seem to have lost the ability to be surprised by people who seem quite smart yet make important decisions in such awful ways. One day, soon I expect to hear of a candidate who is thrown into the river, and only hired if he sinks.

QuoteOriginally posted by: KackToodlesi have a similiar question. So banks invite you for interviews saying upfront they'll pay for all expenses including meals, hotels, etc. Then after the interview, they send a polite rejection email and never mention anything about paying for your expenses. What should you do?Banks live and die by their word being their bond, so it is not really likely that tey meant to lie to you to save pocket change. If they said they would pay, they will pay, you just need to remind them.
