It's all deliberate, Cuch. It's the mildest way to shut down the forum.

hopefully the W team will manage to fix website issues soon. It has never been as bad!
over the past several day, it has taken several minutes to load a page, and it has happened to not even get loaded!

I notice that the active user count has dropped a good ~75% overnight, that's made a difference I'd assume.

If the forum administrator wanted the forum to work fast, it would work fast. Technology is not the problem.

1. Gamal is right. It's the Nike philosophy, "Just Do It." Genius!

2. Gamal is wrong. Technology might or might not have the solution, and there might be multiple constraints, in terms of costs, functionality, damn that speed of light.

3. Thank you, tags, Alan, jasonbell, for playing along but our plan to throttle Gamal alone (ok, maybe Cuch too) and have him think "it's us not him" has clearly not worked out.

Well considering that phpBB is 24 years old, it's battle tested and doing well. It's still widely used, all things need a kick every once in a while. 

Now I have visions of the forum admin with a prayer bowl and a packet of wine gums trying to get divine intervention from the server gods. I mean I do this every day with my devops/sysadmin hat on.
