The number one question/skill for a quant risks management is, "Can you communicate?" Relax during the interview. Simple but effective if you are sitting: Put both feet on floor, while you are talking lean back, open arms spread out on the arm rest, palms up, look at their head. When they are talking lean in, bring hands together and watch their mouth.I also find quick wit is great, if you can pull it off. But this is hard to learn fast and it must be conservative. But as this thread shows, sometimes the jokes are not appropriate. For instance, borrowing from the tread, if they ask something like "Why should we hire you?" or "What is your greatest skill?" You could smile and say, " I can juggle 5 knives at once.... but only 4 if they are on fire. Wait a moment, let them get it, and then say... No really, I can relate to people, I am an effective communicator."This skill is widely used from day one. You have to explain up the chain and form allies down the chain as well. Often on complex subjects they do not want to hear about. Highlight any public speaking or writing awards or verbal skills out of the ordinary.
