Edouard, this advert is quite old fashioned and is the result of HR either getting poor legal advice or not understanding what was said. The standard these days includes "perceived sexual orientation", this covers some cases where people have suffered as a result of a belief by others that they were gay. It's also very probably a lie, in my experience the more an outfit says "we don't care", the more they do. In one case I found myself near, they did not discriminate against Moslems, but it matters an awful which sort of Moslem they were, not only did the company concerned have a gushing "diversity" policy, but it made TV programmes about how other employers were racist.Everyone has prejudices, the question is how good they are at using them and whether their views are getting in the way of making money. The key variable under your control for success in finance is the quality of people in your team, "quality" of course includes maths and programming, but also political skill, bloody mindedness, market knowledge work ethic and courage. However you as a hiring manager define "quality", choosing not to hire the best person because they wear a skirt, turban or horrible tie will cost you money and the 2nd best may also be bad enough to help you lose your job.The game theory also tells us that if you choose not to discriminate against a group that other discriminate, you will be able to pick up better people cheaper than tham and beat them. If that is not a compelling argument to you then you ought to leave finance now and go work in local government.Oh yes and you can get sued, over the years I've help arm some people against their employers where discrimination has got bad, not only can this cost the firm real money, the boss gets bogged down in shit that can last years.
