Did they find a job where they actually have to work instead of talking to random people on a forum all day?One of them found an actual hobby they're passionate about.Another just has too much work (they're severly understaffed)The last just got bored of it - at least that's what he told me.

This forum was a great source of knowledge when I was finishing my PhD (in 2008). Btw, what happened to DCFC?

That's some weird karma, right thereI wish others would persist too. This forum was full of smart, cynical people found only in hard-working fiercely ambitious people. The disappearance speaks more about the state of Quant Finance than any news articles. Now this forum is place to get answers about "Should I take the IT offer which is being offered to me as a stop-gap arrangement before I finally become a Quant?"

Are they all working for HFs making bigger bucks ? Are they not posting here because it is against their NDA ?

It's usually the rule that the elite people avoid social media.

I know people proudly declare with a smirk - "I don't have a Facebook account". Surely Facebook misses them. I told one - "Ofcourse! If I were you I would avoid Facebook. You need friends for being there". What is so elite about being a Senior guy in a bank (even a MD).

All these folks have no more restriction on Social Media usage as other employees. If you are Senator or Congressman or a big shot sports player (That is a societies Elite) what you type on Social Media can get you into trouble due to it being interpreted a certain way. The rest of us are just trolling on FB or Twitter or here. Anonymity is a good idea on forums and it is limited on FB and even more limited on Twitter.
