The Polish lady stole the show! She’s a phenomenon, much like your The Corrs - a stunning voice and a talent for multiple instruments. She also comes from a large family of gifted, classically trained musicians. Too bad she can’t grow a beard…

I liked Denmark the most :-/
The UK made me miss London. unconventional but in good taste is an English classic - so relaxing and refreshing to watch and listen. 0 points from the public.

I miss Katie Boyle.

Why do we need foreigners to do our singing for us?

BTW, imagine if Isreal had won .... it would be tantamount to an endorsement of genocide.

Talking about Eurovision, my wife who is from outer Europe asks the same sensical question every year:  "Why?"

Why did Ireland give Israel 10 points at the Eurovision?

https://www.rte.ie/brainstorm/2024/0513 ... palestine/

Cunningham talked about a recent Ireland Thinks poll about public sentiment to Israel and Palestine. "It showed that when people were asked which side did they sympathise with, 67% said the Palestinian side, and 7% said the Israeli side, with the remainder undecided or otherwise. So it did seem quite surprising that Israel got such a high support in terms of coming second".

That’s not a familiar term to me. Are you referring to one of the “Outermost Regions” of the EU?

As for the existential “why”, the answer is Jahn Teigen’s “Mil etter Mil”. It was all downhill from there. Of course, Waterloo was actually good, but hardly necessary to launch their career.

Was the Israeli contestant an over-the-top nationalist?

I consider it stupid, generally, to penalize individuals for their country being evil.

That said, apparently Eurovision uses a different world map than any I've seen if it includes the State of Israel in Europe. Did Lebanon have a contestant? Syria? Morocco?

Australia is participating too! :-D

This year’s main theme was men dancing in stilettos, so it’s slowly returning to the roots. Hopefully a new ABBA next year.

It was always popular. 1965 was the 1st year Ireland entered with Butch Moore. I didn't see it live because I was signing on stage myself, singing in German believe it or not.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yuval_Raphael

Raphael was attending the Nova Sukkot Gathering music festival in Re'im on 7 October 2023, when Hamas militants attacked the festival. She hid inside a Death Shelter near kibbutz Be'eri with 50 other people, while sustaining shrapnel injuries from grenades thrown into the shelter. Raphael was one of 11 survivors, having hid under dead bodies for eight hours.
