My and ISayMoo's cats have never been happier. I'm kissing with Leela as I'm writing this.

Are we going to San Marino via Italy?

BTW, many people claim that they had symptoms of Covid-19 last winter, around Dec-Jan.
I though the same. I had a heavy flu in that period, different than usual. I ended up troubled - my immune system got knocked out of the orbit. It was the first time in many years I had to lay down in bed ill for several days. I even went to see a GP.
Can you put the cruise ship and Iceland on these? Thanks

Cabin fever is not a disease as such but refers to the claustrophobic irritability or restlessness that takes place when a person or group is stuck an isolated location or confined quarters for an extended period of time.[1]. It makes you stir-crazy, from the use of stir to mean 'prison'[2].
A person may experience cabin fever in a situation such as being isolated within a vacation cottage out in the country, or away from civilization. When experiencing cabin fever, a person may tend to sleep, to have a distrust of anyone they are with, or to have an urge to go outside even in bad weather. The concept is also invoked humorously to indicate simple boredom from being home alone for an extended period of time.[3]
Cabin fever is not directly fatal to an individual suffering from the peculiar disorder. However, related symptoms can lead the sufferer to make irrational decisions that could potentially cause them to lose their life. Some examples would be suicide or paranoia, or leaving the safety of a cabin during a terrible snow storm that one may be stuck in.[4]

We have worked in offices, ships, cottages and two-story houses down the years. I prefer the kitchen.

"Cabin fever "

my father published two short stories directly related to cabin fever, very bizarre and unexpected twist in both of them, both stories from his time alone or on one trip with his boss in one of the most rural areas of Svalbard: Nordaustlandet. They also had to shoot a polar bear in self defense on that trip, and if in addition what he wrote actually where true, then one of them was very lucky to survive the cabin fever.

We can see numbers for cases, recovered, critical, deaths, etc. Which data is most reliable? Does it vary from country to country? What is the simplest model for death rate that is most consistent with the most reliable data?

(Simple example: Assume death numbers are most reliable. What is death rate consistent with all the country numbers, when don’t know exact number of cases in each country? If numbers were static you’d perhaps look at minimum of deaths/cases across civilized countries allowing for stat errors.)

I'm currently in stuck in an apartment with a female roommate who has a super natural ability to radiate stress like a pizza oven. It's snowing here in Quebec and nothing is open, yet the streets call to me.

Anyone know a term that would describe "contagious anxiety"? There's got to be something.

You must be kind of empathetic too (distinct from just sympathetic).

Do both of you play chess or poker and have time to hang out? If so, that might help, if you are inclined. Not saying this in any risqué way either.

She needs to think about something else besides virus news.

I've tuned out for a day or two (for the most part) and am focusing on other things like painting, spring gardening plans, and my fairly large never-watched DVD collection. I keep an eye on useful news and stats, but you can't just sit there hovering over the news cycle all day long.

Best of luck to you and your roommate.

Yes, death and taxes, as usual, and population size.
In the dark, but not necessarily the darkest, scenario, I assume the number of detected infections will creep up and the fatalities among them will be comparable to San Marino.

Iceland doesn’t stand out from the crowd, and the cruise ship doesn’t comparé.

Isn’t Iceland approaching one in a 1,000? And it’s isolated compared with San Marino.

And I like the cruise ship for being self contained and having a good idea of cases.

Iceland doesn't have any deaths yet.

Iceland: That’s good, no?!

There seems to be lot of noise in cases and in how many have been tested. Doesn’t the cruise ship get around that problem? It’s the closest we’ll get to laboratory conditions!
