If I ever got a dog, it would look like this Saluki - (they say people often look like their dogs.)  :)

Saluki 2.jpg

Elegant, strong, and with a long pointed nose (a sign of nobility) - these dogs love to run fast!  and look at that beautiful silky fur.  A perfect creature.
definitely one of the better dogs to resemble

[How come I removed those photos from the Internet a few minutes after I posted them and they were still available under the links?!]
you're probably doing it already, but I find it much easier to edit a post if I hit the "view source" button in the row of buttons just above the box you write in

Thanks, I didn't notice that option and it's makes posting very convenient.
The main problem is that I visit the forum at 4 a.m. (rather than at tea time) or in general when my brain refuses to perform any serious tasks. I sometimes read my old posts and don't understand them :-(

Nature: Moon’s pull can trigger big earthquakes

"Even if slightly enhanced by the tides, the probability of a quake happening on any particular day in an earthquake-prone region remains
very low. “It’s too small to take some actions,” he says."
To what degree connected to the approaching supermoon we can ``only" speculate (trigger mechanism ), most important is for people and pets to get to safety ASP

Powerful quake strikes New Zealand South Island

Warning from  MCDEM  "People near the eastern coast of the south island should immediately move to high ground or inland as far as possible."

"Take your getaway kit with you if possible. Do not travel into the areas at risk to get your kit or belongings. Take your pets with you if you can do so safely. "

"If driving, keep going once you are well outside the evacuation zone to allow room for others behind you"

"Never go to the shore to watch for a tsunami. Stay away "

This is interesting - even many miles inland, the impulse to *run away* suddenly became very strong yesterday.  But where?  and Why?

I have figured it out, so at least have rational (as opposed to raw reactive) view on it now, but the uneasy Take Flight! feeling is still there.

There is no escaping the Moon though!

My solution here: I moved large piles of logs from several properties and consolidated them at the lake house.

More logs and brush moving today and then will split about a cord's worth of wood.

So not running away (:D), but heavy, repetitive lifting and manning the hydraulic splitter, which is fun but requires careful attention.

And I am going to a Stevie Nicks concert on SuperMoon night - perfect!
I hope all coastal animals and people will stay safe.

why does "inland" make a difference, do you normally run away to the sea?
why not the circus?

If this fight or flight effect was only due to the Moon, it should not make a difference, but if it is also tied in to an intuitive sense of real danger (as animals exhibit) then proximity to the ocean, volcanoes, or earthquake fault lines would also play a role.
My cats are not freaking out (at least not yet!) and I am quite confident that they will not run away from home due to the SuperMoon.
This is not true of animals that live in areas where there really are extreme weather and geological events.  They sense it coming and take off.

Wow, Stevie Nicks.
Yes, lots of Welsh witches (and others) will be out celebrating SuperMoon that night.
I hope The Garden can handle it.  :D

I love the Fleetwood Mac family, they have an underlying emotional baggage that shapes their creative expressions, more than other bands (compare e.g. with "she loves you yeh yeh").
Enjoy the experience!

Yes, and years after a terribly acrimonious split, they reconciled, regrouped and have played together too.
On the Mythology side, you may know that Rhiannon is not just a great pop-rock song.

Off to throw some big wood around now - enjoy your day!

Yes, I love the Rhiannon song, fabulous.
She said she wrote the song after reading a book, and only later learned about the mythological story.

Good post. I didn't know stirring clockwise was rude. Must stop doing that.
A Guide to Tea costs from £195 per person, available for a minimum booking of four people.
Sounds like good value.
