Some of them are infected and spread a disease, while washing hands gives protection from catching it. Old players, who are more vulnerable, learnt to run away from the young ones, and young players obsessively wash their hands. It's exactly what I can see is happening: today when we went jogging an older man moved far away from our way and turned his back on us.

I'm hearing that old people aren't too worried. And young people are still out partying. It's the ones in the middle (perhaps with children and old parents) that are worried and obsessively washing and self isolating.

On the serious side though, on top of the virus, the US is facing some dire weather warnings for the next few days.

So, just when quite a few places are trying to isolate and contain, there may be severe thunderstorms, flooding, tornadoes, which could mean emergency personnel needed, people grouping together at shelters, etc.

Vienna Blood on BBC is nice, a detective thriller a la Hercules Poirot, set in Viena 1906 - social inequality and antisemitism shown realistically (but not obtrusively). The protagonist is a young British Jewish doctor, fascinated by Freud's emerging theories and funnelling them into the investigations of an old-school detective, whom he accompanies on the cases.

Paul, if you liked Black Mirror, Inside No 9 might be for you (IMHO, better - humours rather than pretentious).

I personally like old sci-fi movies, Aliens, John Carpenter. Electric Dreams, a movie from 1984 - not the new series which I haven't seen - is a sweet romantic sci-fi comedy (I think trackstar would like it).
Other genres:
Billy Wilder comedies with Marilyn Monroe.
Everything with Audrey Hepburn. Wait Until Dark is different, a serious thriller, but also good.
Comedies with Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracey - a bit sexist, but won't bother a thrid-wave feminist.
My fav comedy of all time, Arsenide and Old Laces.
Speaking of the godly handsome Cary Grant, North by Northwest and
speaking of Alfred Hitchcock, all his classics.
Oh, and Read Window with James Stewart has a timely vibe.

Thank you for all the nice recommendations. I think I will mix things up for the next few weeks - everything from Alien and Outbreak to Marilyn, Katherine, Sophia, Grace, and Raquel classics.  1 Million Years BC...they are a little off on the date there for that particular species, but that is funny. : )

Not too late, but why waste your money and time on Cheetos and Simpsons? An amusing article yesterday that now, after initial panic stripping stores of rice, pasta, canned goods, and t-paper, people are now starting to horde ice cream, chocolate, popcorn, potato chips, and champagne.  The second wave and clearly in it for the long haul...  ; )

Not sure where such things are happenning. We went jogging along the river yesterday and it looked like it must have been before the first WW2 German bombings. Empty streets, almost no traffic on Tower bridge, closed cafes. In my area, we've already organised deliveries for self-isolating. Yesterday I queued in front of the supermarket - only a few persons in a shop allowed so that they can keep distance, etc.
Everybody acts responsibly and calmly.
