do topics disappear after a while

Being the nice guy I am, I was helping someone find the "paths to enlightenment" thread, and couldn't find it anywhere. I tried under the thread title, I tried searching the names of books that I knew were in it, but no luck. Has it been deleted, or archived, or changed name, etc?

A similar fate seems to have befallen the 'Math and Logic Problems' thread, which was of a similar length to 'Paths...'

There used to be a long thread (200ish posts) about cap/swaption abritrage... I can't find it anymore. Is it somewhere in the matrix?
