I currently enrolled in MCS program and doing research in Computer Security. What would it take to get an employment in Financial Institution ? I still have another year to complete the program. I don't mind to go for extra course loads if needed.I'm in Canada. Quite worry because of my age (33 by the time of completion the program) and I just have only one year of industrial development experience.Thank you for your advise

Security is a growth area, though your age/experience profile will count against you. Most banks security is dismal (ours is not I would suspect that after doing the theory of security, the reality is exceptionally tedious. Even now most firms want a process with "security" written on it, rather than secure systems. Oh the stories I could tell.... A lot of "security"work is actually virus scanning, spam blocking and stopping traders downloading porn. If you want to do security in real life, then a supplier would be a good place to start. IBM does good work in this area, (not EDS, trust me on this). I wouldn't go for working at a bank directly, but instead for a consultancy to them. You'd gain experience and marketability, as well as finding out which firms need your services. The security consultancies would like you espeically if you can help them develop new threats to defend againt

How about the security in dedicated inter-bank network? The network and computer system that process and transfer finance data? Who would handle that? An in-house security officer? Sorry I didn't know much about that matter... I want to take some courses in computational finance (Math is my strength). Does any career path involve both expertise in Computer Security and Computational Finance? Thanks
