can one start as an associate after doing a masters? would opting to stay on for a fourth year and universisty have any impact on the salary you could command at an IB?

I know a guy he started as an associate after getting MSc in Economics. He had 3 years work experience (asset management) though...

If you only have say less than a years experience and have a masters then you will still start as an analyst on the graduate intake. If you have say 3 years or more experince and just completed your masters of MBA then you will start as an associate (masters doesn't always equate that way - with the MBA it is different as to get on most tend to be at the younger spectrum at least 25/26 and gained the required work experience). Some just stay with the bank and gain associate after 3-4 years without and an MBA.
