October 28th, 2004, 5:56 am

Hello, we are thinking of implementing Calypso on Structured Credit trading desk. The system will be used for pricing of Synthetic CDO's, Cash Flow CDO's, Baskets, ABS and CDO Squared.Would anyone have any feedback about the quality, efficiency and limits of this system. Thanks.

I don't think they are much good for structured credit. See latest edition of risk magazine and one of thier implementations says so!!

Calypso - Credit Derivatives

For my sins I've had to work with the Calypso system for a number of institutions over the last four years - all of which have used it for different product groups. For the last two years I've been involved in flow and structured credit trading using Calypso and Calypso seems to be geared up for these products. Admittedly no one is going to use Calypso's analytics/risk but the time to market for new products seems to be by far the major advantage.Like any system you need to know the pro's and con's otherwise you're going to have a major headache. Even though I am not a big Calypso fan I think it does have some good selling points and these are mainly biased towards the Credit business. If you have any specific questions then I should be able to help with some answers based on what I've seen at a few large institutions.
