Hi, I am looking for information on BofA, Chicago. Are they generally considered a good outfit from the quant point of view? I might have an opportunity for a summer internship there. Would be grateful for any information on their standing in the industry, working conditions and anything else which one should know. thanx...

Rumor has it that BofA is planning to buy the troubled Morgan Stanley (or one of its business sectors)

It seems unlikely considering they're still recovering from their acquisition of Fleet Boston. Which desk will you be joining. They do have a couple of strong products on the FI side, I don't know how the "quant" experience would be though. I think BofA is a pretty good place to be at considering that their growing rapidly and you will get an opportunity to learn a lot because of that.

What is left is probably going to be technology-focused. Having said that, the people are very nice and you might learn a lot ( but not quant stuff)-V
