base salary for associate

IS the base of 100k good for an associate position? I had a PhD degree and almost two years of industry experience before going to Wall Street. how do you think about this package? Any upside space can I go further? I will be in fixed-income field. Very appreciate your help.

piterbarg, thanks a lot for your reply. The reason I am a little hesitant is that I already have two years of experience. I find that the base for PhD fresh out of school is already around 95k. What do you think?

I would say, at least $130k base in New York for a second year associate.

the company said that there is a company-wide cap on associate base salary. not sure if that is true or just a trick. QuoteOriginally posted by: lancingknightI would say, at least $130k base in New York for a second year associate if they really want you.

Well, it is true for the fresh MBAs. But 2year working experience and a Phd should qualify you at least a 2nd year associate or even higher. There are plenty of opportunities out there besides the normal accociate program. Just my 2 cents. BTW, which firm were you talking about? A couple of firms are really stingy for the first year, but always flexible in terms of PHD hiring.

I know some fundamental baselines in CSFB from a friend working there. Which group in FID will you join in CSFB?

A batchmate was recruited by CSFB last year for $A 130K last year and he has only an undergrad degree with honours. IB division though. What field is your PhD in btw? Maths? Physics?

Maths? Physics?130K is total comp, right. I would be surprise if a fresh undergrad can get $A130K base. It is totally way out of the range for analyst level. He must be the son of CEO in big corp!
