This question is directed at people who were using Schweser in preparing for FRM and - ideally, at those, who had the pleasure of comparing Schweser with primary sources (GARP recommended readings). How good is Schweser as a preparation for FRM?Which sources did you use to save time & increase efficiency.P.S. I am not quant, only finance professional.

I only used Schweser in my preparation 2 years ago and I got the certificate. I do remember a few questions in the exam that had not been covered in Schweser. They did a good job of extracting just the relevant stuff from all the books. The only difficulty I remember is that they didn't change anything in the process of the extracting so you could have chapters next to each other mentioning the same thing but using completely different notation/terms/etc because the chapters came from different books. I neither took any classes nor did I read the FRM Handbook which was notoriosly full of typos/errors at the time. Overall I spent about 2-3 months on reading the notes and doing the exercise during 1-hour commute.

Hi,You should be fine if you do Schwesers + pdf documents put up on the GARP website (additions to the list of prescribed readings).Found quite a number of questions picked up from these readings (and Schwesers has completely messed up notes for these readings).Cheers.

quanttwannabe - Thanks for the new dimension. How did you handle Basel 2 June 04 paper - have you read the original work? More importantly, how detailed should be the knowledge of this paper?
