Hello,I am currently in IT consultancy and plan to do my MBA next Fall. I am currently considering what opportunities exist for new MBA grads with no prior experience in investment banking business. What are the individual lines of business in investment banking. i know there is corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, IPO, etc.It would help to know what a day in the life of a typical guy in these businesses look like and if new grads are given opportunities. also can i leverage anything from my IT experience. Please advise.cheers

IT consultancy experience can interest m&a teams dealing with IT industry firms, and maybe Project Finance teams working on project deals related to IT (satelite projects, communication networks...). I think that with an MBA and consultancy experience it will be easy to get a job in investment banking. As an analyst or associate in M&A, u can expect to work from 9 am to midnight and some week-ends. U can sleep more with IPOs, Debt structuring, project finance and real estate.
