XLStat Reviews?

August 30th, 2005, 9:39 pm

Hi;Has anyone hear used XLStat and have some reviews of it they'd like to share? My professor is trying to require it for our course, and I'm curious if anyone here thinks that it's a worth while investment. BTW, I've googled the web looking for honest user reviews of this software and can't seem to find any. thanks,

I did use this about 8 years ago it must have been the first version of it. Thierry Fame(?) had it free on the web and it was very handy to do stuff gosh that is so long ago. I believe it has changed a lot since then frankly anything will do better than excel's built-in statistical functions. The alternatives are @risk and R's own excel interface RExcel, I have come across a few folks who like @risk.

I use @Risk and think it is great. But it could be a little expensive and over-engineered for a college course. I don't know what the student prices are like.

Well I'm kind of pissed because they don't even offer XLStat student versions for those using Macs. That, and the student version costs $50 but then you only get to use it for a year! It's basically an extended trial version.

Used it around 2000-2001 to do some stats within Excel for workIf you can get it for a reasonable price (under $100), it's definitely worth having - has got all kinds of useful stats and graphing tools in it
