BTW Paul, do you remember those tea chests (correct word?) with the silver paper lining?
And the extra pot of hot water, so you could top up the teapot. What is the world coming to?
Old habits die hard; I bought some Alwazah tea and a silver pot + Libanese tea glasses down the old Edgeware Road but my family were having none of it; they still use Lyons tea bags.Oh well.
And the tin foil in these chests and cigarettes boxes that we used to save for the starving babies in far away places.

Why did they ever stop putting those collector cards in packets of tea? Birds, soldier uniforms, famous cricketers, etc. I can understand not putting them in cigarette packets, but tea! And the toys you used to get in cereal boxes. That'll be health and safety I bet.

Contrary to popular belief, we've never had it so good nostalgia-wise.

Yes, popular belief is that nostalgia ain't what it used to be.

yeah, and in the 60s you got postcards of pop groups with candy. I even got one from Gerry Marsden himself (a card, not candy).

Anyone remember this?

I must have spent years of my life sticking those things in their books. Time I could have spent winding up clockwork toys. Or putting oil in those little holes that no one else remembers.
